Using Playbooks

A Playbook is a step-by-step checklist that walks you through growing your business — like launching a new market, optimizing your Google Business Profile, or landing your first deal. You install one from the Marketplace, then work through the steps at your own pace in the Playbooks hub.

Playbooks vs. Tasks — what's the difference?

They're two separate things, on purpose:

  • Playbooks are setup and growth checklists. They live in Playbooks (in the left sidebar under Grow), each as a collapsible card with a progress bar. Checking off a step just marks your progress — it never touches your daily to-do list.
  • Tasks are your daily operational to-dos — the follow-ups and reminders you (and your automations) create as you work deals. They live in Tasks.

Keeping them apart means installing a few playbooks won't flood your Tasks list, and checking off a playbook step won't accidentally trigger any of your automations.

Installing a playbook

  1. 1Go to Marketplace and open the Playbooks tab.
  2. 2Click What's inside to preview the steps, then Install.
  3. 3Follow the Open Playbooks link in the confirmation — your new playbook is waiting there.

Working a playbook

The hub is a two-pane workspace: your installed playbooks on the left, the one you're working on the right.

  1. 1Open Playbooks in the sidebar.
  2. 2In the left rail, search your playbooks or filter by All / In progress / Completed. Each row shows a progress bar. Pick one to open it on the right.
  3. 3Click the circle next to any step to mark it done — progress saves automatically. Steps show a suggested day ("Day 3") as a pacing guide, not a hard deadline.

What you can do on each step

  • Do it — steps that map to a screen in the app show a Do it ↗ link that jumps you straight there (e.g. a step about your cities opens Website, a buyer step opens Buyers). Steps you do outside the app (calling sellers, mailing a list) don't have one.
  • Add note — jot who you called, the numbers, or where you left off. Notes auto-save when you click away (you'll see a green Saved).
  • Assign — hand a step to a teammate with the assignee dropdown on the right of the row.
  • Send to Tasks — for a step you want a real reminder on, click Send to Tasks. It creates a dated task in your Tasks list (the row then shows In Tasks ✓ and links to it). This is the one place a playbook step crosses over into your daily Tasks — and only when you choose.

When every step is checked, the playbook shows a ✓ Done badge and drops to the bottom of the rail so your active ones stay up top.

Removing a playbook

Uninstall it from its Marketplace card (the ... menu → Uninstall). That removes it — and its progress — from your Playbooks hub. Your Tasks are never affected.

Tip

Playbooks pair well together: the Google Business Profile & Local SEO playbook and the Google Reviews & Reputation playbook, for example, cover getting found and getting trusted. Install the ones that match what you're working on right now, and add more as you grow.
